Nature Conservancy Thelon Expedition

We sometimes get involved in a really neat project, and this is one of them. Having 6 local youth from the Great Slave Lake area reconnect with nature in our folding canoes was a real thrill. Here is the first contact I received – and at the bottom is a link to the blog from the trip. I think you will like it!

Hi Pakboat-

I live and work in Yellowknife for the The Nature Conservancy, the largest environmental conservation organization in the world. We have recently started working with small communities in the Northwest Territories and have some funding to try and reconnect aboriginal youth to nature. The project has evolved into taking 6 youth from Lutsel K’e, in the East Arm of Great Slave Lake, on a 2 week canoe trip down the Upper Thelon River this July.
I have been running logistics with planes and boats and it turns out that we may need one or two Pakboats to accompany us on the trip……….
