We purchased a 17 ft Pakboat from you in the Spring and I never did get back to tell you how thoroughly delighted we were with its performance this summer.
Pat and I and the two kids (4 and 6) spent 12 days paddling and playing on the Soper River on Baffin Island from Mt Joy to Kimmirut. With 2 kids and food for 12+ days, you can imagine how much gear we packed in to the canoe. I believe we now own the first two Barbies to have descended the Soper!
The Pakboat was fabulous! It handled all four of us and all our gear effortlessly. We had loads of freeboard to spare and ran every runnable rapid with ease, hardly ever shipping a drop of water.
Water levels were low and we often scraped the bottom of the canoe on rocks. You wouldn’t know it from looking at the skin – it still looks practically brand new. Only slight damage we suffered was a little hole just below the gunwale line, when at the end of the trip our empty canoe was blown a hundred yards or so into a real sharp patch of crystalline limestone by a truly awesome gust of wind…not the canoe’s fault – should know better than to leave it untied even if it was the last campsite!
