Pakboats from Northwest Territories to Belize

PakCanoe as Travel Companion, From the Northwest Territories to Belize (2000)

Hi Alv and Linda,

We were just thinking of you, hoping that things are going well with you. You’re probably off to Norway for some more fabulous paddling adventures.

Our Pak Boat is still a delight for us. It has taken us down the Mara and Burnside Rivers in the NWT, through the drowned canyons of Lake Powell, and along the Pacific coast of Vancouver Island (Broken Group Islands, a magical place) and the Sunshine Coast (Desolation Sound).

It is our constant traveling companion as we explore North and Central America in our camper van, “Pakd” away neatly under our bed. It adds a wonderful new dimension to our travels, letting us paddle any rivers, lakes or sheltered ocean waters that catch our imagination.

We had it with us in Mexico, Belize and Guatemala this winter, but it stayed rolled up under the bed. The heat made us too lazy to paddle. It’s nice to know that you don’t feel you have to use it just because you have it along, since it’s so unobtrusive (out of sight, out of mind).

We’re off to BC and the US west coast in a few weeks, for another extended period of hiking, paddling, just bumming around. We look forward to paddling in the Inside Passage, setting up camp under some giant old growth trees, foraging for oysters and mussels for dinner. It’s a wonderful life.

We hope to drop by to see you again when we’re in your neck of the woods.

Wishing you the best of everything,

Doug & Daniela Bell
